About the Department

The Public Works Department provides for the construction, maintenance and improvement of infrastructure within the unincorporated area of the County and the Flood Control District as well as county buildings and grounds. The department is organized to conform to the process of developing and building projects. Public Works maintains 660 miles of roads and 150 miles of streams; channels and other drainage facilities as well as maintains 93 county buildings.

  1. Update on County Road Closures

    Dues to a slide, Morgan Territory Road is closed between Oak Hill Lane and Williams Road. At this time there is no estimate for the road reopening. Contra Costa Water District is providing updates to this webpage. http://www.ccwater.com/mtslide View Press Release
  2. Alamo School Field Closure

    The Alamo Elementary School Field will be closed for turf maintenance from December 1, 2016 through February 28, 2017. View Press Release
  3. Orwood Road Bridge Construction Update

    Starting June 15, 2016 there will be changes to marine access to allow for construction of the southern portion of the new bridge and demolition of the old bridge. View Press Release
