Humane Education/Special Events

Humane Education Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Organizing and handling educational pets for events and classroom presentations 
  • Assisting with newsletter mailings
  • Distributing fliers
  • Presenting at special informational events
  • Chaperoning groups of children through the shelter
  • Giving shelter tours

Volunteers also help with classroom and community presentations on various topics, such as:

  • Responsible pet ownership
  • Pet safety
  • Bite prevention
  • Choosing a pet

Special Events Responsibilities

Volunteers are needed for community outreach programs, such as mobile adoptions, fairs, and special events.

Our Volunteers assist with:
  • Setup and organizing animals and supplies
  • Providing information to the public
  • Helping with other activities, such as entertainment, paperwork, and transporting animals

These events are usually scheduled on the weekends and require a time commitment of approximately three to four hours. Volunteers must be multi-taskers who have fun in all types of weather and locations.
