  2. In addition to an adult honoree, Contra Costa County proudly honors a high school student each year who is an inspiration to fellow students. We invite teachers, coaches and other school staff to submit nomination information below.

  4. Please use the following form to submit your nominee for Contra Costa County Student Humanitarian of the Year.

  5. Please share your thoughts about the student, and why he or she is deserving of the honor. We're looking for students who stand out to their teachers, family and peers. Our winner will be someone setting an example for others, and living Dr. King's dream of equality, peace, justice, non-violence, leadership and inspiration. Please be as specific as you can.

  6. If you prefer to enter your information directly on this form rather than attach a document, please use this space to explain your nominee's leadership and/or commitment to promoting diversity,m equality, peace, justice and non-violence in a campus or off-campus setting.

  7. Announcement of the selection of the 40th Annual Student Humanitarian of the Year will be made in December. We will contact you directly if we have any questions about your submission.

  8. If the student you nominated is selected, the Committee will need a high resolution JPEG format picture of the student to be used in the program for the ceremony and in a news release to the media. Please upload an image here, or contact the Awards Committee if you need assistance.

  9. We appreciate the time and effort put into nominating students. Our Student Humanitarians of the Year have gone on to achieve success as adults, and we are proud to have had an opportunity to recognize them for their achievements during their teen years. We also thank you, the education community, for your role in shaping good citizens. We invite you to join your nominee or winner at the County's 40th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Day Celebration on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at 11:00 AM. The commemoration will take place at the Board of Supervisors Chambers, 651 Pine Street, in Martinez. If your nominee is selected, you'll be contacted with information on parking and other arrangements for the day of the ceremony. Awards for the student and adult humanitarian will be presented at that time, and both will be offered an opportunity to speak.
