The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff operates under the leadership of Sheriff David O. Livingston. Organizationally, the Office of the Sheriff is separated into four bureaus:
A Commander directs the operation of each bureau. The Office of the Sheriff has a staff total of 1,052: 720 sworn personnel and 332 general employees.
