The Agriculture Department prepares an annual crop and livestock report, which details the gross production and value of agricultural commodities produced in Contra Costa County. Individual production statistics are both confidential and voluntary. Research institutions, schools, banks, government agencies, and businesses rely on this information.

Economic contributions of agriculture study
Agriculture is an important driver of our local economy. According to a study commissioned by the Department of Agriculture in 2014, Contra Costa County agriculture contributed $225.0 million to the local economy in 2013 and supported more than 2,000 jobs.
To put the contribution in perspective, the Contra Costa County agricultural industry added over $600,000 into the county economy per day, or just over $25,000 per hour. The Economic Contributions of Agriculture report is the first comprehensive economic analysis of the agricultural industry done in Contra Costa County.
