Steps to Proposing a Project

Read the Landscape Element

The Landscape Element, particularly its plant palette, will tell you what kinds of plants can be used in different sections of the Iron Horse Corridor. Your landscaping project must follow the Landscape Element and its guidelines.

Determine the Specifics

Determine the specific details of your project, including the location you want to landscape, the type of plants you will use, the source or supplier of the plants, the date(s) when you want to do the planting, the type of maintenance that will be required after the plantings are in, and who will do the maintenance, including:

  • Pruning
  • Raking
  • Trimming
  • Watering

Keep in mind, water supply is very limited for landscaping in the Iron Horse Corridor. A public water supply may not be available in the area you want to plant. Applicants should also be aware that due to numerous utility easements within the corridor, certain planting restrictions may apply within the area they want to adopt.
