Crimes
Crimes prosecuted by this unit encompass a wide variety of offenses, such as:
- Driving under the influence
- Assaults
- Misdemeanor domestic violence
- Petty theft

Prosecutors
Generally, new prosecutors begin their careers in the misdemeanor units where they are trained and supervised by experienced attorneys. These new attorneys are taught how to prepare cases for trial, interview witnesses, and present compelling arguments in support of the cases. Duties of the misdemeanor prosecutor include:
- Reviewing police reports for the filing of charges
- Responding to motions
- Conducting trials and seeking appropriate punishment for misdemeanor offenders
