Contra Costa County, in partnership with the cities of Lafayette and Walnut Creek, has initiated the Olympic Corridor Trail Connector Study. The study is a planning effort to study options and identify a preferred alternative for a pedestrian/bicycle facility connecting two well used, paved, multi-use regional trails in Contra Costa County; the Lafayette-Moraga Trail and the Iron Horse Trail.
The project requires significant community outreach. We have held one Stakeholder Group meeting and now ask the broader community to share its ideas and concerns about connecting these two important regional trails.
The purpose of the Community Workshop is to capture community ideas and concerns about the preferred alternative and the criteria we will use to select the recommended corridor.
The first Community Workshop will be:
Thursday, December 5th 6:30-8:30pm Multi-Purpose Room Parkmead Elementary 1920 Magnolia Way Walnut Creek, CA 94595
After the Community Workshop we will evaluate alternatives based upon the opportunities and constraints existing today as identified through the community outreach process and our experience. A preferred alternative will be selected, designed and studied for feasibility and cost. A second Community Workshop will be held to present the Preferred Trail Alternative for review and comment of the concept drawings and design elements. This input will be incorporated into the Final Study Report.
