Animal Services

Overview

The county’s Animal Services department is responsible for enforcing leash laws, capturing loose or stray animals, and running two shelters in Pinole and in Martinez. Supervisor Gioia sponsored the county's potentially dangerous dog ordinance, which is regarded as a model for how governments can fairly deal with problem animals.

For more information contact the Martinez Animal Shelter at 925-608-8400 or the Pinole Animal Shelter at 510-942-4500.
