Energy and water are essential for life. Water is considered a basic human right by the United Nations, and without energy we cannot do anything. The County is committed to ensuring Contra Costa residents have access to clean, affordable energy and water, as well as providing rebates and programs to help you make your home and business more resource efficient.
As of April 2018, the majority of Contra Costa residents are buying electricity from MCE, a not-for-profit clean energy provider.

This decision will go into effect for the County’s 2021-2022 fiscal year budget and is expected to eliminate over 1,500 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year.
