Engage with the County!

Contra Costa County is always in need of help, and our sustainability work is no exception. You can get involved with our various community groups and volunteer opportunities, or even our Sustainability Committee!

Board of Supervisors Sustainability Committee

The Board of Supervisors Sustainability Committee focuses on implementing the County’s Climate Action Plan.  Supervisor John Gioia and Supervisor Federal Glover serve on the Committee on Sustainability.

Sustainability Commission

In 2017, the Board of Supervisors created the Sustainability Commission to advise the Board and County staff on successful implementation of the County’s Climate Action Plan, including how to realize equity and fairness across the County and how to better engage residents and businesses.

Sustainability Exchange

The Sustainability Exchange is a quarterly gathering for local government staff in Contra Costa County who work on sustainability issues to network and learn from one another.  If you report to a Board or Council that is elected, you are welcome to join us!

Library

The Contra Costa County Library offers workshops and has resources that can help you save money and keep our community healthy. Through the Contra Costa County Library's Library of Things, you can test the energy efficiency of your home using an energy efficiency toolkit, explore nature by checking out an outdoor explorer backpack, and more.
