As your District IV Supervisor, a central part of my job is keeping the county on sound financial footing. As chair of the Board of Supervisors Finance Committee, I work with my colleagues to grow our reserve funds, ensure a positive cash flow, and make appropriate investments in capital improvements, like the new county administration building under construction, which is pictured above.
In the 18/19 fiscal year, we marked 8 concurrent years of structurally balanced county budgets, and received a AAA rating from the credit rating agency Standard & Poor's. Additionally, we passed a comprehensive recreational cannabis ordinance that will bring tax revenue to the county, and implemented a senior veterans benefits program to assist our veterans in need.
I am committed to the work of preparing for a sustainable financial future for our county, and understand that some decisions will be difficult, and potentially unpopular. However, I will always be guided by a belief in the power of government to improve people's lives, and will work to ensure that we have the financial resources to do so.
