Byron Airport Development Program
Existing General Plan policies and zoning regulations for Byron Airport prohibit most of the uses necessary for the airport to reach its aviation potential and achieve economic self-sufficiency. To promote economic development, the County intends to amend its Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan, General Plan, and Planned Unit District zoning to substantially broaden the range of uses allowed by right on the airport property.

Climate Action Plan Update
The Climate Action Plan (CAP) is the County’s strategic approach to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from sources throughout the unincorporated area. The CAP is being updated in parallel with Envision Contra Costa 2040. Envision Contra Costa 2040 will provide the long-term resiliency framework of goals and policies, and the CAP will provide strategic implementation programs to show how the County will reduce GHG emissions complementary to the State’s climate goals.

Envision Contra Costa 2040
Envision Contra Costa 2040 is a comprehensive review and update of the County's General Plan. The process began in late-2018 and the final document will be adopted in 2020.

Renewable Resource Potential Study
Contra Costa County, through a grant from the California Strategic Growth Council, in 2018 conducted a study of the potential in the County for renewable energy, particularly wind, solar, biomass, and biogas.
