Welcome to the Employment & Human Services Department page!

The Employment & Human Services Department (EHSD) provides an array of services and administers benefit programs to nearly 350,000 people in our county each month. Our highly dedicated staff members work in partnership with many equally dedicated community agencies to promote independence and self-sufficiency to reduce poverty. We provide services to children, older and disabled adults, families, Veterans, and community members to access resources that support, protect and empower individuals and families.

EHSD’s vision is for Contra Costa County to be a thriving community where all individuals and families can be healthy, safe, secure and self-sufficient.
