Purchasing a license tag and attaching it to your pet's collar is one of the most important things you can do as a responsible pet owner. Displaying a current Contra Costa County license tag on your pet's collar makes it easy for animal control officers and shelter employees to quickly locate a lost pet's owner information. It could be your pet's ticket home!
Contra Costa Animal Services (CCAS) partners with PetData to provide pet licensing services for residents of Contra Costa County. PetData also services the City of Antioch, Solano County, San Mateo County and many other partnering Animal Welfare agencies, so we're in good hands.
Two different options are available for County residents licensing pets - online, or by mail.
Applying for a License Online
To license your animal online, go to PetData.com and enter your zip code. You can license multiple pets at the same time, and easily upload required documents. All major credit cards are accepted, and a small convenience fee will apply per transaction.
Applying for a License by Mail
To license by mail, simply mail a copy of your pet's current rabies certificate and any other applicable documentation, along with your check payable to:

Required Rabies Vaccination
A rabies vaccination is required before a pet can be licensed (Ordinance Number 80-97, Section 416-6.002). Licenses are not valid until a current rabies certificate is submitted.
Spay & Neuter Discount
In order to obtain the spay/neuter discount, proof of sterilization must be on file with Contra Costa Animal Services.
