Recycling and Waste Reduction
The Solid Waste and Recycling Section oversees the collection of garbage, recycling, and organics in portions of the unincorporated County and implements programs to reduce solid waste disposal and promote reuse and recycling in accordance with the Integrated Waste Management Act (AB 939) and other applicable state laws. Additional services include operating the recycling hotline (800 750-4096) and hosting home composting workshops.

CRV Buyback Centers

Franchise Agreements

North Richmond Green
The North Richmond Waste & Recovery Mitigation Fee (NRMF) was established by the City of Richmond and the County to help defray annual costs associated with collection and disposal of illegally dumped waste and associated impacts for the benefit of unincorporated and incorporated North Richmond.

Recycling Market Development Zone
The Recycling Market Development Zone (RMDZ) loan program is a state sponsored program that combines recycling with economic development to fuel new businesses, expand existing ones, create jobs, and divert waste from landfills. The RMDZ program offers low interest loans to borrowers using recycled materials to make new products within the zone.
