The following is an overview of the redistricting process, including public hearings and public workshops. If you need language or other accommodations, please send a request at least 72 hours prior to the meeting. Email an accommodation request.

The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors adopted the new District Boundaries at the November 23, 2021 Public Hearing and are no longer accepting public comments.  All items including, maps, videos, public comment, and calendars of events will remain on the Dedicated Redistricting Website and available for the public to view.

August 4, 2021 - Website Launch

August 10, 2021 at 9:00 AM -  Public Hearing 1

Presentation to the Board of supervisors, review current supervisorial maps, the process for accessing the redistricting website, using the online mapping program to submit maps and communities of interest for consideration, subscribing to receiving email updates, and for providing comments will be explained.

August 12, 2021 - Census Data Released

The US Census Bureau releases the first local level results from the 2020 Census including: population change, race, ethnicity, the age 18 and over population, and housing occupancy status. This data is the basis for the California Redistricting data used to draw district boundaries.

September 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM - Online Mapping Workshop #1

The County hosts a technical workshop for the public to learn how the online mapping application works.

October 23 - 28, 2021 - Community Redistricting Workshops

Workshops held in each region of the County to provide background on the redistricting process, present potential boundary changes (map alternatives), answer questions and receive input.  Depending on COVID 19 restrictions, these workshops may be in-person, or by Zoom, call-in, or some combination of those alternatives.

2021 Supervisorial District Maps Adopted on November 23, 2021

Elections adjusts precinct lines 

Elections Office adjusts precinct lines to conform to new supervisorial districts.

December 15, 2021 - Statutory deadline to complete redistricting 

Per CA Elections Code section 21501(a)(2) the redistricting process must be completed by December 15, 2021. 

December 16, 2021 - Signature in-lieu-of-filing fees begin

The County Clerk will begin to accept signature in-lieu-of-filing fees for U.S. Congressional, State Legislative, and County candidates.
