Contra Costa County CAL-ID Remote Access Network Board

In 1985 legislators enacted California Penal Code section 11112.1. The law directed the California Department of Justice (DOJ) to develop a statewide California Identification System, known as CAL-ID. This program provides funding for an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), facilitating a statewide telecommunications network dedicated to transmitting fingerprint data throughout the state for use by law enforcement agencies. The CAL-ID Remote Access Network Board is involved with decisions related to the CAL-ID trust fund, budget, and ongoing projects.
