Trap Neuter Release Program

Trap, Neuter, Release (TNR) Services

Beginning on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, CCAS will conduct our TNR program Tuesday-Friday by appointment. Patrons can bring up to two (2) cats for alteration. The TNR program is available for unowned, feral or community cats only.  Please read our TNR criteria in the list below:

TNR Criteria

  • At this time, we are offering TNR surgeries Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday by appointment.
  • To make an appointment, please email [email protected], call us at 925-608-8400 or come by our clinic Tues.-Fri. between 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM. If we are unable to schedule an appointment at that time, we will place you on a waiting list depending on availability.
  • Drop off is at 8:00 AM.
  • TNR kittens must be at least 3 months old and at least 3lbs in weight.
  • Contra Costa County residents can bring up to two cats per person/address. You will need to show your ID or proof of residency, if it is not already on file.
  • Trappers may make one appointment per week.
  • All cats will be spayed/neutered, "ear tipped," given a microchip, vaccines (rabies and FVRCP), deworming and flea treatment, no exceptions.
  • Trappers will be required to sign paperwork at the time of drop off verifying there is no known owner for the cat(s) they bring in for TNR services.
  • CCAS reserves the right to keep cats for any reason, such as ones that are deemed medically necessary or those that may be candidates for adoption.
  • All cats must be in humane cat traps, one cat per trap. Cats in carriers, or multiple cats in a trap, will not be accepted.
  • Traps must be lined so that the cat's feet cannot slip through the bottom. Newspaper, potty pads, or other absorbable material is acceptable.
  • Traps must be covered with a towel or small blanket, so cats are less likely to hurt themselves during transport.
  • TNR pick up is on the same day, from 4:15-4:30pm.
  • Post surgery instructions for TNR cats can be found here.
