Upon separation from County service, employees and their dependents enrolled in a medical and/or dental plan have two options to continue their health plan coverage; the Group Continuation Plan or the Individual Conversion Plan. Both of these options provide for continued coverage for designated periods of time.
Qualifying Events to Make Changes (add or delete dependents)
Add dependent: You will have the option to add dependents during the plan year as long as you contact Employee Benefits Service Unit (EBSU) within sixty days of the qualifying event. Examples: Marriage, newborn, adoption, loss of coverage
Delete dependent: It is your responsibility to inform EBSU if a dependent is no longer eligible as a dependent on your health plan. Example: Divorce, death
More information on qualifying events (PDF).
Open Enrollment
The annual open enrollment period allows you to make changes to your health and dental coverage, and to add or to delete dependents without a qualifying event.
