Environmental Enforcement

The environmental unit of the District Attorney's office prosecutes violations of state environmental laws, including:

• Laws and Regulations pertaining to:
  • Water Pollution
  • Air Pollution
  • Hazardous Waste
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Wildlife

This unit not only prosecutes criminal cases where fines and jail time may be the result, but also files civil lawsuits seeking civil penalties, environmental mitigation, and other injunctive relief.

The unit works closely with state and local governmental agencies to enforce state laws and regulations which protect the environment.
