Hess Construction Co., Inc. has been awarded the Port Chicago Highway and Willow Pass Road Bike and Pedestrian Improvements project, in the Bay Point area.
The project consists of removing the free right turn lane from Willow Pass Road to Port Chicago Highway and constructing intersection improvements, which include a new signal controlled right turn lane, drainage improvements, and curb, gutter, and sidewalks along the east side of Port Chicago Highway and the north side of Willow Pass Road. The project will also provide pavement widening for standard travel lanes and bike lanes. The project is funded through Active Transportation Program Funds, Safe Routes to School Funds, and Bay Point Area of Benefit Funds. Work will begin July 5, 2016 with completion expected by October. Traffic may be impacted by lane closures with minimal delays. Additional project information is available at http://www.cccounty.us/pwdmap.
