The County Public Works Department plans to complete some preparation work on the alternate access road on Thursday afternoon and pave with asphalt concrete on the uphill/downhill sections of the road on Friday. After careful consideration we have determined this paving is the best way to maintain a serviceable roadway during the slide repair project on Morgan Territory Road. Public Works will continue to perform ongoing maintenance as necessary.
Contractors will be on the access road on Thursday, August 17 between 1pm and 6pm to grade and compact sections of the access road. On Friday, August 18, starting at 7am our contractor will pave portions of the access road. During the work there will be traffic control with flaggers and delays of 20-30 minutes. Residents are encouraged to use the access road early in order to minimize traffic on the road during the paving work. In an effort to control speeds on the newly paved road surface, additional speed bumps will also be installed. We ask that drivers follow the posted speed limit of 15 miles per hour and practice courteous driving at all times.
We understand this is short notice, but with local schools ready to start next week we hope this final fix will minimize the constant maintenance that the gravel road has required.
Thank you for your continued patience.
