This week the contractor completed drilling the foundation piles for the downslope retaining wall. The downhill retaining wall includes the installation of 36 inch diameter cast-in-drilled-hole reinforced concrete piles to depth of approximately 57 feet (total of 36 piles). Work will continue on the downslope retaining wall through next week (first week of October) with the installation of the reinforced cap wall that will sit on top of the 36 reinforced concrete piles. Once the downslope retaining wall is completed, the contractor will excavate the soil between the two retaining walls system to a depth of 10 feet, install subsurface drainage, reinstall and compact the soil in place. The earthwork operation between the retaining walls is expected to run through the third week of October. After the soil work is completed, the contractor will begin installing the new 8-inch waterline through the project site. After the waterline is complete, the contractor will install the new asphalt pavement section, taking us into approximately the first week of November. The project is planned to be wrapped up mid-November with completion of railings, fences, erosion control, paint, striping, and punch list items. Our continued goal is to get the road open for public use as soon as possible. We will continue to provide updates as the work progresses. For the safety of residents and construction workers, please do not go into the project site.
The Public Works Maintenance crews are continuing to maintain the access road.
Please keep speed to 15 miles per hour on the access road.
