[ARCHIVED] Brian Balbas is Public Works' New Director

The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors
today announced Brian Balbas as the new ContraCosta County Public Works Department Director. Mr. Balbas began his career with the Contra Costa County Public WorksDepartment in July 1989 as an Entry Level Engineer. He has spent nearly 29
years serving the residents of the County in various capacities.

Inaddition to working in all aspects of the full service Public Works Department,
Mr. Balbas had the opportunity to serve one year as the first City Engineer forthe City of Oakley when it incorporated in 1999. He promoted within the Contra
Costa County Public Works Department to a Deputy Director in 2007, Chief Deputyin 2016 and now the Director.

District IV Supervisor and Chair of
the Board Karen Mitchoffproclaimed, “This board gave direction to pick the best individual. We are confident that we found the best
person to lead the department.”

Mr.Balbas states, “It has been a privilege to serve the people of Contra Costa
County throughout my career and I look forward to leading the department togreater heights and continue serving Contra Costa County residents.”
