Contra Costa County Public Works Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Canal Road Bridge in Bay Point
April 5, 2018, Bay Point, CA – Contra Costa County Public Works will hold the Canal Road Bridge Replacement Project ribbon-cutting ceremony at 293 Alves Lane in Bay Point on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm. This collaborative project replaced the existing 80-year old bridge with a new and wider concrete bridge over the Contra Costa Canal located on Canal Road/Alves Lanes approximately a half a mile west of Baily Road. The project also included reconstruction of the adjacent roadway approaches, drainage improvements and sidewalks on both the new bridge and approach roadways.
Speakers for the ribbon cutting ceremony include: Supervisor Federal Glover, District 5, Brian Balbas, Director, Contra Costa County Public Works, Lisa Borba with Contra Costa Water District, Debra Mason at Bay Point MAC and Pastor Rodney Burks, United Pentecostal, where the ceremony will take place.
Construction, which spanned the previous seven months, was funded in large part with Federal Bridge Replacement Funds along with local matching SB1 Gas Tax funds and done in coordination with the Contra Costa Water District, United States Bureau of Reclamation, Caltrans, the Federal Highway Administration, Delta Diablo, PG&E, Golden State Water, AT&T and Comcast to accommodate their facilities.
