Contra Costa County Public Works to Begin Construction on Pacifica Avenue in Bay Point
June 1, 2018, Bay Point, CA – Contra Costa County Public Works Department will begin construction on the Rio Vista Elementary Pedestrian Connection Project in Bay Point. The work consists of pedestrian and bicycle improvements which include a 5-foot-wide pervious concrete sidewalk, curb, gutter, driveways, driveway conforms, storm drain improvements, pavement repair, pavement widening, embankment construction, rock slope protection, 5-foot-wide bike lane, installation of Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons, and a speed feedback sign near Rio Vista Elementary School. Construction will begin June 8 and will be completed by August 10, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
The project will close the final gap of sidewalk on the north side of Pacifica Avenue as a continuation of the Department’s efforts to improve pedestrian accessibility in front of the Rio Vista Elementary School, Riverside Middle School and Shore Acres School. Funding for this project is provided by the State grant funds and gas tax revenues provided by the SB1 Road Repair and Accountability Act.
