Contra Costa County Flood Control District Hosts Planting Event
Who: Contra Costa County Flood Control, Restoration Trust
What: Planting native plants, removing invasive plants, picking up trash, from a section of Clayton Valley Drain in Concord
Where: Off Solano Way, just south of the Delta De Anza Trail, Concord, CA
When: Saturday, December 8th from 9am – Noon
Giving Natives a Chance began as a joint effort between the Contra Costa County Flood Control District and the Restoration Trust to see if given a proper chance, native plants such as creeping wild rye, Santa Barbara sedge, and Baltic rush could outcompete invasive species in our creeks. Event activities include weeding, trash pick-up, and of course, planting. Light refreshments and lunch will be provided to volunteers.
