[ARCHIVED] Preparing For A Power Outage

Preparing For A Power Outage

PG&E reports that 100% of power outages in Contra Costa County related to the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) has had power restored. If you are without power for any other reason, be sure to follow up with PG&E directly.

The County’s Emergency Operations Center has been deactivated. Contra Costa County services were uninterrupted during the power shutoff event.

Go to www.pge.com to register for wildfire alerts and get customer updates. To learn more about how to prepare for PG&E power outages, visit safetyactioncenter.pge.com.

Tips:

  • Power Outage Tips for Seniors and People with Disabilities (PDF)
  • Plan for your family and pet's needs
  • Treat intersections as four way stops if traffic lights are out.
  • Have enough water and non-perishable food. Conserve water.
  • Keep gas tanks full
  • People with electric security gates should lock them "open" while power is still on to ensure they can get in and out when it is not.  Also make sure you can get your vehicle out of the garage.
  • Talk to your family and neighbors and share your plan
