[ARCHIVED] PG&E to Fully Close a Portion of Happy Valley Road in Orinda

PG&E to Fully Close a Portion of Happy Valley Road in Orinda to Perform Tree Work

October 20, 2020, Orinda, CA – Contra Costa County has issued a Road Closure permit to Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) to fully close a portion of Happy Valley Road in Orinda. Work is scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2020 and potentially Tuesday, October 27, 2020, barring unforeseen circumstances. Work will occur between 9:00 a.m. through 3:30 p.m., weather permitting. The work will take place in front of 4949 Happy Valley Road, Orinda. The purpose of this road closure is for PG&E to remove two hazardous trees located on private property that are threatening a gas pipeline and impeding emergency access to that pipeline along Happy Valley Road in Orinda.

The work will consist of tree cutting and removal as well as staging of construction equipment. Some dust and noise is expected and will require the portion of Happy Valley Road to be closed to through traffic (allowing local and emergency access only). Advanced notice signs indicating the road closure will be placed at Bear Creek Road and Wellesley Drive. There will be traffic control through the work area and drivers should expect delays. Current social distancing protocol will be observed.
