At a Board meeting on November 17, 2020, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors unanimously passed Urgency Ordinance No. 2020-29 to continue the temporary prohibition on evictions of certain small-business commercial tenants financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This protection now continues through January 31, 2021. Protections for residential tenants were unchanged by the urgency ordinance and last through January 31, 2021. Ordinance No. 2020-29 supersedes Ordinance No. 2020-26.

In addition to being a direct resource to tenants and landlords alike, the webpage also will supplement the work of self-help centers located in or near courthouses across the state.

These centers provide assistance to litigants without representation in navigating the court process.

In related news, the Judicial Council recently approved forms to reflect changes to court procedures and practices needed to carry out AB 3088.
