Rain is here. Here are tips to be prepared and safe.
Please avoid unnecessary travel and stay home if possible. If you need to drive, check traffic reports before heading out the door. Slow down, leave extra space between vehicles and watch out for flooding on roadways. Keep both hands on the wheel and leave your headlights on. Do not drive through standing water - turn around, do not drown.
If it is safe, check your property for clogged drains, broken fences, and fallen trees/limbs . See moe tips on how to prepare flooding for at: https://www.contracosta.ca.gov/5906/Winter-Storm-Preparedness.
Please stay way from downed power lines and report them to 911 and PG&E at 1-800-743-5002. See PG&E's power outage map for updates. See tips to Prepare For A Power Outage (PDF) and Preparándose Para Un Apagón in Spanish (PDF).
See Contra Costa County Flood Control District for information on ways to be prepared, including locations for sandbags.
