On March 5th, 2021, in accordance with 7 CFR 759.5(a), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack designated Contra Costa County as a primary natural disaster area due to the recent drought. This entitles eligible farm operators to be considered for assistance from the Farm Service Agency (FSA), including emergency loans. Farmers have 8 months from the date of a Secretarial disaster declaration to apply for emergency loans. Further details can be found in the 2021 California Drought Declaration letter. The local FSAs that service Contra Costa County are in Stockton: (209) 337-2124 and Davis: (530) 792-5520. Additional contact information can be found on the USDA FSA website.
