March 22, 2021, Walnut Creek, CA – Contra Costa County has issued a Road Closure permit to East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) to partially close a portion of San Miguel Drive between El Camino Corto and Shady Glen Road to through traffic, except for emergency access. Traffic traveling on San Miguel Drive will be detoured using Walnut Boulevard. A partial portion of Shady Glen Road between San Miguel Drive and Oakdene Court will be closed to through traffic as well, except for emergency access. Traffic will be detoured using El Camino Corto. Access to residents who live within these work zones will be maintained.

The purpose of this road closure is for EBMUD to replace approximately 1,965’ of 6” & 8” IPVC water main on portions of Shady Glen Road, Oakdene Court, Adeline Drive, Norris Road and San Miguel Drive in Walnut Creek. The road will be reopened at the end of each workday.

The roadwork will consist of pavement saw cutting, trenching, and staging of construction equipment. Some dust and noise is expected, and will require temporary lane closures during the hours of construction. A portion of San Miguel Drive and Shady Glen Road will be closed to through traffic (allowing local and emergency access only). There will be traffic control through the work area and drivers should expect delays. Current social distancing protocol will be observed.
