NOTICE OF PROPOSED DISPOSITION OF UNCLAIMED MONEY IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY TREASURY
The Treasurer-Tax Collector of the County of Contra Costa has on hand in the Unclaimed Deposit Trust Fund the
sum of $229,913.06, consisting of various amounts that have been unclaimed for three years or more. In accordance
with Section 50050 of the Government code, it is proposed that the money will become the property of the County of
Contra Costa on June 30, 2021, unless any person seeking to recover any part of the money files a claim with the
Treasurer which includes the claimant’s name, address, amount of claim, grounds on which the claim is founded and
any other or pertinent information to that claim. The claim must be filed prior to the date the unclaimed money
becomes property of the County of Contra Costa. The Treasurer will accept or reject said claim and if the claim is
rejected, the party who submitted the claim may file a verified complaint seeking to recover all, or a designated part,
of the money in a court of competent jurisdiction within Contra Costa County. The claimant must then cause the
complaint and the summons issued thereon to be served upon the County Treasurer. The copy of the complaint and
summons must be served within thirty days of receiving notice that the claim was rejected. The Treasurer shall
withhold the release of the portion of unclaimed money for which a court action has been filed until a decision is
rendered by the court.
