Contra Costa County Public Works to begin Construction of the 

Fred Jackson Way First Mile/Last Mile Connection Project in North Richmond

 

July 27, 2021, North Richmond, CA – Contra Costa County Public Works will begin construction of the Fred Jackson Way First Mile/Last Mile Connection Project starting on Monday, August 2, 2021 through Monday, February 28, 2022, barring unforeseen circumstances. Work will occur between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, weather permitting. Work will take place on Fred Jackson Way, from Brookside Drive to Grove Avenue, in North Richmond.  The intersections of Market Avenue and Silver Avenue, at Fred Jackson Way, will be fully closed for approximately 112 days during construction, 24 hours per day. Message boards providing notice of upcoming road closure will be placed near the project site prior to road closure. Road users should expect delays near the project site due to alternate routes. 

 

The project will construct street improvements along Fred Jackson Way between Brookside Drive and Grove Avenue including construction of widened sidewalks, crosswalk curb, storm drain modifications, street trees and irrigation.  The project will also include pavement grinding, widening, overlay and construction of a Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) pedestrian Path.   

 

Funding for this project is provided by Active Transportation Program, North Richmond Area of Benefit, and Transportation for Livable Communities Source, State Coastal Conservancy Proposition 1, and Gas Tax funds.
