Contra Costa County Public Works Announces Completion of the Happy Valley Road Embankment Repair Project
October 5, 2021, Lafayette, CA – The Contra Costa County Public Works Department is proud to announce the completion of the Happy Valley Road Embankment Repair Project. Work was completed ahead of the projected completion date of October 29, 2021 and Happy Valley Road is now open to public use as of Tuesday, October 5, 2021.
This project, which started on August 9, 2021, reconstructed the northbound lane and restored two-way traffic on the portion of Happy Valley Road that washed out during 2017 storm events. Work consisted of repair and restoration of a 250 foot stretch of northbound Happy Valley Road, including installing a soldier pile retaining wall with safety railing on the east side of the roadway and repairing settled roadway affected by the eroded embankment.
