Former Antioch Resident Convicted of Forcible Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 13 and Displaying Harmful Material to a Minor
Martinez, Calif. – A Contra Costa County jury convicts a former Antioch man on two counts of forcible sexual abuse of a child under 13 and displaying harmful material to a minor.
On April 27, 2022, a jury in Superior Court in Martinez found 36-year-old Henry Cordon guilty for violating California Penal code section 288(b)(1) in Contra Costa and Stanislaus Counties. Trial evidence also showed between May 1, 2017, and September 1, 2017, Cordon used sexually graphic images to arouse the victim in violation of California Penal code section 288.2.
In May 2019, the Contra Costa County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Cordon at his home after finding child sexual abuse material on his devices and in his e-mail account. While in custody, Antioch Police officers took a report from the mother of the victim indicating her child had been sexually abused by Cordon in 2017.
Cordon will be sentenced on July 22, 2021, at 8:30 am in front of the Honorable John Cope. He faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in state prison.
On September 16, 2020, Cordon was sentenced to 6 ½ years in Federal prison for receipt and possession of child pornography stemming from a May 2019 investigation. Once his case in Contra Costa County concludes, Cordon will be extradited to Florida to face federal charges alleging he produced child pornography in 2011 with a different victim.
This case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Chris Sansoe. The investigation was conducted by the Antioch Police Department, and a multi-agency Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which is managed by the San Jose Police Department. In Contra Costa County, detectives and investigators from the Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Martinez, San Ramon, Concord, and Moraga Police Departments, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, United States Secret Service, Homeland Security Investigations, the Contra Costa County Probation Department, and Inspectors from the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office participate in the task force.
