Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District Investigating Potential Illicit Discharge within Walnut Creek Channel

May 10, 2022, Walnut Creek, CA – On Monday, May 9, 2022, the Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (District) received a report about a potential illicit discharge within the Walnut Creek channel. The reported discharge was observed at a location north of Civic Park in the City of Walnut Creek, near Civic Drive and Arroyo Way. The District is currently working with the incident response team from the Contra Costa Health Services Hazardous Materials Program to investigate and identify the possible nature and source of the reported discharge, and also mitigate and contain the discharge. Our department will continue to work with our partners to investigate this matter and take appropriate steps to mitigate any issues identified.
