[ARCHIVED] (Updated 8/17/23) Road Closures in Contra Costa County

Contra Costa County Public Works Road Closure Information

(Updated) August 17, 2023, 8:30 a.m., Unincorporated Contra Costa County, CA - Contra Costa County Public Works continues to evaluate damages to the roads and other issues related to the Winter storms of December 2022 through March 2023. Below is the current status of the county-maintained roads that are closed in unincorporated Contra Costa County:

  • (Updated 8/17/23) Norris Canyon Road- one lane of traffic is closed between Asbourne Drive and the County line due to road embankment failure. K-rails and stop-controls are currently being used to guide traffic through this section of the road. A construction date of Summer 2025 is anticipated. We will provide updates as they become available.
  • (Updated 6/8/23) Wildcat Canyon Road- is completely closed to all traffic between San Pablo Dam Road and Inspiration Point due to storm related issues (erosion/slides) and for the public's safety.  The Public Works Department is completing its assessment of the damage to Wildcat Canyon Road. We are beginning the design of the new retaining wall and are working to complete the required environmental clearances for construction.  We had anticipated a Summer 2025 construction date, but are making every effort to advance the schedule to 2024. For more information visit the project webpage at:  www.contracosta.ca.gov/wildcatcanyonroadrepair We will provide updates as they become available
