Celebrate Earth Day April 22 through a series of events countywide. This day of action is a reminder of our shared responsibility to protect the environment. Here are just a few of the many local events where you can enjoy free family fun, learn about sustainability, and get involved.
Saturday, April 22:
- North Richmond Earth Day: Clean Wildcat Creek, plant a native garden, and more! Arrive at 1975 Fred Jackson Way between 8:30 am and 9 am for registration and dress accordingly for outdoor work.
- Pinole Earth Walk: Join the walking pledge to protect the planet with a three-mile loop along the bay and creek starting and ending at Fernandez Park from 9 am to noon.
- El Sobrante Earth Day Community Cleanup: View an Origami art installation, Earth Day book displays, participate in gardening, listen to speakers, entertainment, and other fun and educational activities! Gather at 9:30 am at El Sobrante Library, 4191 Appian Way.
- Rodeo Cleanup with the Contra Costa Resource Conservation District behind the old Safeway building near Goodwill at 605 Parker Avenue in Rodeo.
- John Muir Birthday – Earth Day: From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., visit the John Muir National Historic Site, Martinez, for family fun, live music, and food.
- Celebrate Earth Day on Richmond's Greenway Trail: Celebrate the Environmental movement, and raise awareness about the need to protect Earth.
- Recycle Smart Compost Giveaway: On Saturday, April 22, residents in Alamo, Diablo, Danville, and Walnut Creek can pick up free compost at Creekside Community Church in Alamo. Register in advance.
Sunday, April 23:
