Dan Mierzwa Sworn in as County Treasurer-Tax Collector

Dan Mierzwa Takes Oath of Office at Finance Building

Dan Mierzwa has been sworn in as Contra Costa County Treasurer-Tax Collector. Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder Kristin Connelly administered the oath of office to Mierzwa during a ceremony at the County Finance Building in Martinez on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors appointed Dan Mierzwa as the next Treasurer-Tax Collector following the announcement of Russell Watts’ retirement in December.  

Mierzwa previously served as Yuba County’s Treasurer & Tax Collector. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Finance and Business Administration minors from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. He also holds a Certified California Municipal Treasurer certification. 

The Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office acts as the bank for the County, providing financial services to County departments, schools, and special districts and managing more than $4.9 billion in the County’s investment pool.

Dan Mierzwa ha sido juramentado como Tesorero-Recaudador de Impuestos del Condado de Contra Costa. La Secretaria-Registradora del Condado de Contra Costa, Kristin Connelly, administró el juramento del cargo a Mierzwa durante una ceremonia en el Edificio de Finanzas del Condado en Martínez.

La Junta de Supervisores del Condado de Contra Costa nombró a Dan Mierzwa como el próximo Tesorero-Recaudador de Impuestos tras el anuncio de la jubilación de Russell Watts en diciembre.

Mierzwa se desempeñó anteriormente como Tesorera y Recaudadora de Impuestos del Condado de Yuba. Tiene una licenciatura en Economía con especialización en Finanzas y Administración de Empresas de la Universidad de Puget Sound en Tacoma, Washington. También tiene una certificación de Tesorero Municipal Certificado de California.
