[ARCHIVED] The Public Works Department will perform roadwork starting August 5, 2013

Contra Costa County Public Works Department will perform roadwork starting August 5, 2013 through the week of August 26, 2013. The Public Works Department maintenance crews will place a chip seal in the areas identified below. A chip seal involves spraying liquid asphalt on the pavement followed by the spreading of a layer of small aggregate (rock) that is embedded into the oil. The majority of the work will occur between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, however sweeping of excess rock may occur up until 10:00 p.m. and some Saturday work may be required.

Week of August 5
• Brentwood and Byron Areas

Week of August 12
• Tassajara Area
• Walnut Creek and Alamo Areas

Week of August 19
• Walnut Creek and Alamo Areas
• El Sobrante and unincorporated San Pablo Areas
• Unincorporated Martinez and City of Martinez

Week of August 26
• Unincorporated Martinez and City of Martinez
• Pacheco Area

The scheduled work is subject to change. Electronic message boards will advise motorists of planned work in advance. Motorists can expect delays and should use alternate routes. The speed limit through the work zones will be 25 miles per hour. Specific roads and schedule updates are posted on the Public Works website at: www.cccounty.us/surfacetreatmentinfo.
