Introducing Dr. Katherine Mills
CCAS Chief of Shelter Medicine
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Katherine Mills, DVM, to the CCAS team as our new Chief of Shelter Medicine.
Dr. Mills brings more than ten years of shelter medicine experience to the team, having served in numerous capacities for municipal and nonprofit shelters, as well as private practices, over the last decade.
Dr. Mills comes to us from the SF SPCA, where she served as the Medical Director and Managing Veterinarian for Stockton Animal Services since 2014. Beyond her work with the SF SPCA, Dr. Mills has provided veterinary services for many prominent animal welfare organizations in the Bay Area, including ARF, Maddie’s Fund, the Marin Humane Society, Santa Clara County Animal Services and the East Bay SPCA, to name a few.
She also brings a wealth of private practice experience, having held veterinary positions at VCA All Pets in Salinas and Center Animal Hospital in Castroville, in addition to her work as a Veterinary Acupuncturist for Bay Area Animal Acupuncture. Dr. Mills believes that the work we do is more than just a job – she believes in making a difference for every animal that comes into the shelter.
Dr. Mills possesses a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from UC Davis, where she also earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural and Managerial Economics. She is an accomplished veterinarian who specializes in high-volume spay/neuter work, which will be a benefit to our department. If you see Dr. Mills at one of our facilities, feel free to say hello and introduce yourself.
