What type of structures do not require a permit?

According to the code the following is exempt from needing permits: One-story detached accessory buildings used as tool and storage sheds, playhouses, and similar uses provided the floor area does not exceed 120 square feet. Unless specifically exempt, anything else will need permits. Any potentially unique situations should be referred to Building Inspection or Planning at 925-655-2700 for a definitive answer.
